Overview
Are you the type of person who is always curious about the latest innovations in electronic gadgets and devices? If you like working with your hands, exploring new technologies, and are interested in electronic and information security, then a career in Wireless Systems could be the right choice for you.

It's a growing field ... just take a look around.

  • Computer communications is now wireless; WLANs, Wi-Fi, WiMAX.
  • Your cell phone, PDA, iPOD, iPhone, and laptop are all examples of wireless devices.
  • Wireless game controllers! Remember the time when you were bound by wires.
  • The wireless headset for your cell phone uses Bluetooth.
  • The GPS system in your car is wireless.
  • Your driver's license has or will probably have an RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) in it soon.
  • Your passport will also have an RFID in it and many retail stores are already using this wireless technology.

Wireless connectivity is in almost everything we deal with in our daily life and a skilled workforce in this area will continue to be in demand ... in maintenance and repair, installation, quality assurance, and research and development of these existing or newly conceived electronic devices.

In less than 3 years, you can earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology with a concentration in Wireless Systems.
An Associate Degree program is also available which prepares the graduate for entry-level employment in the Wireless Systems field.

What You Can Learn
The Wireless Systems program focuses on real-world application of engineering principles. Wireless Engineering technologists are usually the link between the engineers and the technicians. They work with engineers from the conception phase of a product to the final production. They assist in the design, development, testing, and production of wireless devices.

The curriculum provides graduates with the education and experience needed for employment in a variety of industries in the private and public sectors including:

  • Computer Industry
  • Homeland Security
  • Aerospace Industry
  • Automation and Manufacturing
  • Education

The program focuses on core areas such as:

  • Analog and Digital Electronics and Communications
  • Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN)
  • Wireless Network Security
  • Ad-Hoc Wireless Sensors Networks
  • Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)

Building upon ECPI's tradition of providing an interactive and "real world" hands-on education in technology, you'll:

  • Use testing and measuring instruments to acquire data, analyze problems, and design a system or process.
  • Identify, analyze and solve technical problems.
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage engineering technology projects.
  • Analyze and implement systems containing hardware and software components.
