DEN125 Community Health

The course provides topics related to community health concerns including identification of specific diseases, symptoms, causes and effects.  An emphasis is placed on the promotion of oral health in the community through patient education in oral home care techniques, dietary counseling, plaque control procedures, risks of tobacco, and application of medicinal agents.  The importance of understanding patients with special needs is stressed.  The study of nutrition and how to discuss nutritional counseling with patients is also included.
