HUM115 Reasoning & Analysis

This course will examine and develop writing skills that enable students to clearly present claims that support their conclusions and avoid reinforcing biases. Students are given the opportunity to analyze and discuss various types of media-including television, Internet, and print-to determine which sources provide the most reliable information. Emphasis is placed on evaluating information, problem-solving, approaching cross-cultural perspectives, and resolving controversies and dilemmas. This course includes practice in inductive and deductive reasoning, presentation of arguments in written form, and analysis of the use of language to influence thought. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the use of critical thinking skills and analysis. This is a Writing Intensive Course.
