Did you know that for every hour of regular exercise, you can add two hours to your life expectancy? Add those two hours by joining ECPI’s team for the Heart Walk to benefit the American Heart Association. There are teams in Charleston, Hampton Roads and Richmond. The team is open to students, staff and faculty.
Being a walker is fun and easy. The AHA provides great tools and tips, including the website where you can solicit donations quickly online.
Heart Walk Event Dates:
- Charleston, 9/17
- Hampton Roads, 9/24
- Richmond, 10/22
If you are unable to join the team you can join the cause. Team members are selling:
- Red American Heart Association bracelets, $1
- Red supporter hearts, $1
- Raffle tickets to win an iPod touch, one per market, $1
Do your part to be heart healthy:
- More of us are overweight. Adult and childhood obesity levels continue to increase; 65% of all adults are obese or overweight
- It is more difficult today to create an active lifestyle. People are less active due to technology and better mass transportation
- Sedentary jobs have increased 83% since 1950. Physically active jobs now make up only about 25% of our workforces
