She wanted to become a medical assistant. Suddenly, she found herself relying on medical professionals to help her heal and return to life as she knew it. She returned to campus many months later and learned there were people there waiting to help her, as well. She says, “Being a student at ECPI University helped me stay focused on my ‘big picture,’ all the while allowing me to be myself, to grow, and shine.”

They multitask, mixing office work with medical tasks like drawing blood, giving injections, or taking medical histories. With experience, they may perform specialized roles.

As U.S. News & World Report shows, the biggest demand for Medical Assistants is in densely populated urban hospitals, like San Francisco, and in low population areas, like Fairbanks, Alaska. The thinking is that population and location will drive the demand for Medical Assistant opportunities. And, increased demand will drive income increases.
