Students from MCI’s Emerywood location volunteered to participate in the Special Olympics on June 11. The student representatives are from the school’s Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program.
Students spent the day assessing strength, flexibility and endurance on a large crowd of enthusiastic athletes. Students had the opportunity to meet other student PTAs from Virginia schools and work alongside licensed physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
The experience was not only a feel good contribution to the community but offered networking with industry professionals, the opportunity to learn new techniques and gain insight about disabilities.
