Message from the President

Mark Low Res

The start of 2014 presents time to reflect on the past and look to the future. While resolutions may seem trivial – and short-lived – I would challenge everyone to use this time to set and redefine goals. First, think about the year that just ended. What worked, what didn’t? Use those experiences to adjust your habits. For many of our students, graduation is just around the corner and keeping your discipline and focus will enable you to overcome obstacles and make the transition to the working world that much easier. Build upon those skills that will help your employability.

One thing to consider: take advantage of the many talents available here at ECPI University. Whether it’s certifications, externships, tutoring, math and writing assistance centers, or careers services, each campus has dedicated faculty and staff who can have a tremendous impact on your success.

I encourage you to consider as many professional certifications as possible. These are highly-recommended by both faculty and employers who serve on Advisory Boards. ECPI University libraries offer study guides, testing centers, and discounts for students and alumni.

Always remember, your experience at ECPI is a group effort between you, the college and employers. Utilize all of the resources here. ECPI University is dedicated to Excellence, Commitment, Professionalism, and Innovation. Make the best of 2014.

Sincerely,

Mark Dreyfus

Getting the most value out of your college education is a goal we have at ECPI University for each and every student. That is why ECPI University is committed to rigorous and ongoing evaluations of its programs and course content. Our academic advisory committees are comprised of industry professionals who are well-positioned to advise us when workplace requirements occur and curriculum enhancements are warranted. We have invested significant resources into classroom technology, and it clearly benefits our students. However, what makes our classroom experience and degrees valuable are the talented faculty members that make the technology and curriculum relevant. These are experienced educators with impressive real-world credentials.

The benefit to our students is clear. Employers seek out ECPI University graduates because they’ve come to expect someone who is capable and prepared to perform at a very high level. However there is one ingredient that will make you successful that you cannot learn from technology, a book, or an instructor. That is persistence. Every student will reach some hurdles both academically and personally while in school. Learning how to overcome these will give you valuable life lessons and let you achieve your goal: to graduate. Remember it’s up to you to drive for success; ECPI University can show you the path.

“Patience, persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success.” — Napoleon Hill

“Success is almost totally dependent upon drive and persistence. The extra energy required to make another effort or try another approach is the secret of winning.” — Dennis Waitley

“The most essential factor is persistence – the determination never to allow your energy or enthusiasm to be dampened by the discouragement that must inevitably come.” — James Whitcomb Riley

Sincerely,

Mark Dreyfus

The summer is a time to reset your goals and look forward to finishing your degree. ECPI students continue to pursue their career by taking advantage of our year round schedule. Our students are special and their perseverance through twelve months a year is one reason why employers prefer our graduates over others. They are dedicated and driven to succeed. Employers are always looking for those that demonstrate professional qualities.

Helping successful graduates is a team effort. It begins with dedicated faculty and staff, and is nurtured by the many valuable partnerships that we have developed throughout the communities we serve. ECPI’s collaboration with employers and industry leaders ensures that our curriculum is up to date and your degree more relevant. Supporting the communities in which we live is equally important and we encourage all students to participate in their locality. I continuously am surprised of all the great achievements of our students, faculty, and staff. Thank you for your continued support and participation.

Sincerely,

Mark Dreyfus

With graduation just around the corner, many of you are no doubt preparing for the job search. Hopefully, you know there are many resources available to you through our Career Services Department.

No matter where you are in your educational journey, please remember the importance of certifications. For many industries, professional certifications are a determining factor in selecting candidates to be interviewed and, therefore, serve as a way to weed out other applicants. Certification also sends a signal to employers that you are committed to lifelong learning and value professional growth.

ECPI administers many of these exams and offers them to our students at deeply discounted prices. So, now is the time. Take advantage of this opportunity and give yourself a “leg up” on the competition.

Sincerely,

Mark Dreyfus

2013 will be a great year to see the accelerating impact of technology in the classroom or virtual classroom. More and more, “apps” are making learning exciting and bringing information to mobile devices for a better student outcome. This revolution in education – combining technology and mobility allows students to learn anywhere, anytime, and at their pace – will be part of your ECPI experience. With access to the internet, subjects can include rich media and transform the traditional lecture-based instruction that has been around since Socrates.

ECPI University is committed to being your mobile education university. As such, we are working closely with Apple to develop a platform to enable your learning to be richer and more exciting. Look for developments on this in 2013. By charting a bold course, ECPI University is making geography less relevant and helping deliver quality education anywhere and to anyone in the world.

Sincerely,

Mark Dreyfus
