A
recent job fair led by the Columbia
campus has produced tremendous
results. Held in conjunction with the South
Carolina, Greater Columbia, Greater Irmo,
West Metro, and Greater Lexington Cham-
bers of Commerce, as well as the Double-
Tree Hotel and IT-oLogy, the event drew
more than 2,000 job seekers.
The event was open to the public and gave
attendees the opportunity to meet with
more than 60 employers. “It’s hard to mea-
sure, but I would say that many lives were
changed for the better that day and South
Carolina’s economic outlook improved
by the connections made to enhance our
workforce,” says ECPI Columbia Cam-
pus President James Rund.  “We are very
proud that our coalition was able to bring
everyone together to achieve so much for
our community with this one event.”
One life that was most certainly changed
was that of an ECPI University student. Her
husband had been out of work since last
October and, as a result, she was faced
with dropping out of school. He went to the
job fair, was interviewed on the spot, and
received an offer the very next day.
“There are so many talented people out
there, and sometimes they just need a little
help getting their foot in the door,” says
Brett Hall, Columbia Campus Director of
Career Services. “There were tons of great,
professional, and excited applicants, says
Ariel Fox, Human Resources Coordina-
tor for MEDcare Urgent Care. “It was a
wonderful experience. ECPI University did
an amazing job planning and organizing
this job fair. We are really looking forward to
next year’s event.”
