Columbia, SC

ECPI University Columbia is located in the area of South Carolina referred to as the “Midlands.” Located in the center of the state, the campus is a short drive from both the Atlantic Ocean or, in the other direction, the Appalachian Mountains.

Columbia has a number of recreational opportunities including boating and fishing on Lake Murray, a 50,000 acre man-made lake with over 500 miles of shoreline. Lake Murray is a natural wonder to explore and a true fisherman’s challenge, hosting numerous professional fishing tournaments annually.

Columbia’s spectator sports include University of South Carolina Gamecock football, basketball and baseball. Parks and playgrounds are managed by the City of Columbia, Richland County and Lexington County, as well as some of the smaller towns that make up the metro area.

Just minutes from the ECPI University Columbia is the Riverbanks Zoo and Botanical Gardens, a top ten zoo in the United States that offers a vast collection of the some of the world’s most unique and endangered species, extraordinary gardens and woodland paths.

The list of local area annual events is endless. Columbia is host to many annual festivals including one of the largest St. Patrick’s Day festivals in the country, The Irmo Okra Strut, The South Carolina State Fair, The Peach Festival, Greek Festival, and the Lexington FunFest to name a few. They all celebrate an aspect of life in the Columbia Area.

ECPI University Columbia’s students are active both on campus and in the community through the Medical Student Association.

Columbia students host annual on-campus Blood Drives in cooperation with the American Red Cross as well as participate in the Adopt-A-Highway and Adopt-A-School programs. On-Campus fundraisers are also held on a regular basis in support of Harvest Hope Food Bank and the Holiday Adopt-A-Family programs.

Students also participate in a number of local area volunteer opportunities with such organizations as The Sister Helen Cullen Women’s Shelter and The Salvation Army downtown soup kitchen at Ebenezer Lutheran church.
