ECPI University Announces New Bachelor of Science Degree

Electronics Engineering Technology with Concentration in Mechatronics

Designed to Fill Skills Gap Challenging Manufacturing Industry

Greenville, SCECPI University is pleased to announce it is now offering a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology with a Concentration in Mechatronics, a field that focuses upon the real-world application of engineering principles in automated manufacturing and robotics.

“Every time I attend an event with manufacturers in the Upstate, I hear that there are not enough skilled workers to fill the demand they expect in the coming years, especially in the auto manufacturing industry,” says Amy Hickman, Campus President.

They work with engineers from the conception phase of a product to final production, and assist in the design, development, testing, and production of electrical-electronic- mechanical equipment and components. Courses will provide hands-on study of applied mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, automation systems, programmable controllers, microcontrollers and more.

Mechatronics graduates are typically employed as:

  • Electrical/Computer Engineering Technologists
  • Project Managers
  • Industrial Engineers

ECPI University Announces New Bachelor of Science Degree

Healthcare Information Technology Concentration Developed in Response to Industry

Trend Toward Electronic Record Management

Greenville, SC – ECPI University is pleased to announce that it is now offering a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer and Information Science with a Concentration in Healthcare IT. This program will prepare graduates to build and administer networks specially designed for the healthcare field, focusing on the skills needed to develop and maintain network security and electronic medical records. Students are also steeped in the nomenclature of medical terminology and healthcare regulations which they can later apply in a hospital or medical practice setting.

“Healthcare is clearly transitioning toward electronic record management and that, combined with the industry’s continued growth, is creating a need for graduates with a solid foundation that spans healthcare and information technology,” says ECPI Director of Career Services Robert Decker.

Building upon ECPI’s tradition of providing an interactive and hands-on education, students will learn how to create and build networks in the Windows and CISCO environments, design and implement security plans to keep patient health information safe and secure from prying eyes and provide IT support to doctors and nurses.

Coursework includes:

  • • Database design
  • • Risk management and disaster recovery
  • • Installation and configuration of client and server operating systems, network           services and security tools
  • Health informatics and HIPAA compliance
  • • HW, SW and network requirements—design, interpretation, and evaluation

Additionally, this program prepares graduates to sit for IT certification exams related to CompTIA, Cisco Systems, Microsoft and HIPAA Compliance.

For more information, please contact ECPI Greenville Campus President Amy Hickman at 864.288.2828 or Director of Communications David Brandt at 757.213.3613 or dbrandt@ecpi.edu.
