Richmond, VA – ECPI University is pleased to announce that it is now offering two new concentrations within its Computer and Information Science program at its Richmond/Innsbrook campus.
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer and Information Science with a Concentration in Healthcare IT is designed to prepare graduates to build and administer networks specifically for the healthcare field, focusing on the skills needed to develop and maintain network security and electronic medical records. Students are also steeped in the nomenclature of medical terminology and healthcare regulations which they can later apply in a hospital or medical practice setting.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook, overall employment of computer network, systems, and database administrators is projected to increase by 30% from 2008 to 2018, much faster than the average for all occupations.
In healthcare, specifically, growth in these fields is expected to be rapid, as organizations look to increase efficiency and improve patient care through information systems and other technology.
The Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer and Information Science with a concentration in Cloud Computing and Virtualization prepares students to help organizations increase information technology agility, flexibility, and security while reducing the cost and complexity of managing legacy network infrastructures.
Building upon ECPI's tradition of providing an interactive, application-based education, graduates of this program are prepared to:
- Install, configure and manage virtual servers and data centers
- Use cloud services for storage and virtualization
- Design and secure fault-tolerant enterprise networks
“The demand for these skill sets is great since companies are relying on technology to improve efficiencies while continuing to offer services that help them maintain their business- driven competitive edge,” says ECPI University – Innsbrook Director Jacob Pope.
