Database Programming Overview
Do you enjoy using creativity, logic, and analytical skills to solve problems? Do you like playing complex games such as chess or video/computer games or find yourself wanting to know how computers do what they do? Check out a career in Database Programming with an Associate of Science in Computer & Information Science or the Associate of Applied Science in Computer & Information Science (South Carolina only).
Computer programs tell the computer what to do, which Database information to identify and access, how to process it, and what equipment to use. Programs vary widely depending upon the type of information to be accessed or generated. For example, the instructions involved in updating financial records are very different from those required to duplicate aircraft conditions for pilots training in a flight simulator.1
This hands-on, interactive educational program equips students with the computer programming and information processing skills required for career-entry positions in a wide range of positions. Students are introduced to a variety of operating system environments and programming languages.
A Bachelor Degree program is also available which prepares the graduate for more advanced and higher-level employment positions in the Database Programming field.
