- **Microsoft Exam 70-480** Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3
- **Microsoft Exam 70-483** Programming in C#
- **CompTIA CASP certification** exam CAS-002. The CAS-001 exam retired on June 20, 2015.

These five certifications address many different aspects of medical assistants' responsibilities and can also demonstrate that they are well-rounded medical professionals:

- **Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist** (CEHRS)
- **Certified EKG Technician** (CET)
- **Certified Medical Administrative Assistant** (CMAA)
- **Certified Billing and Coding Specialist**
- **Certified Phlebotomy Technician** (CPT)

### Certifications Offer Students the Opportunity to Make Themselves Stand Out

"These certifications can be essential in demonstrating a student's competency, thereby affecting their marketability. We frequently hear from advisory boards and employers that when reviewing candidates, certifications are not only important, but can be the determining factor in selecting the final candidate," says Ashley Richards, Richmond Campus Director of Academic Affairs. "In some cases, employers prefer certifications over years of experience."
