FSM350 Wine Service and Beverage Management

This course explores to the legal and ethical responsibilities of alcohol beverage service, as well as alcoholic beverage history, product knowledge, and appreciation. Basic mixology, product storage and inventory requirements for alcohol, and effective service methods are discussed. The major types and traits of wines from important wine producing areas of the world are explored. Control of beverage cost is reinforced using an industry standard POS system. At the end of this course students will have the opportunity to take a nationally recognized certification test.
