## Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) program prepares students to apply engineering principles directly to mechanical systems - from design and testing to implementation and maintenance. Accredited by ETAC of ABET, this hands-on bachelor curriculum emphasizes real-world problem solving and prepares graduates for roles across manufacturing, product design, power systems, and more.

- **124 Total Credits** — 2.5 Year Bachelor's Degree
- **5 Week Terms** — 2 Courses Per Term
- **Through the ETAC** — ABET Accredited Program
- **Transfer Credits** — Up to 93 Credits

### Highlights of the Curriculum:

- **Materials & Manufacturing:**
Understand the properties of materials and manufacturing processes needed in modern industry.
- **Computer-Aided Design (CAD):**
Students learn to create precise 2D drawings and 3D solid models used in modern engineering environments. CAD skills are applied to mechanical components, assemblies, and systems, ensuring designs meet functional, dimensional, and industry standards while supporting collaboration across engineering teams.
- **Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE):**
Through engineering analysis tools and applied coursework, students use CAE concepts to evaluate mechanical performance. Topics such as stress, motion, and system behavior are introduced to help students validate designs before they are built—reducing cost, improving reliability, and supporting data-driven engineering decisions.
- **Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM):**
Students explore how digital designs are translated into real-world products. CAM concepts connect design and analysis to manufacturing processes, exposing students to production planning, machining principles, and quality considerations essential in modern manufacturing environments.
- **Thermal & Fluid Systems:**
Study the principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics as they apply to mechanical systems. Students learn how energy, heat, and fluid flow impact system performance in applications such as HVAC, power generation, manufacturing processes, and industrial equipment.
- **Team-Based Projects:**
Collaborate on projects that develop communication, teamwork, and professional skills essential for technical careers.

Mechanical engineering technologists are essential in industries where machines, structures, and systems are designed, built, and improved - filling roles from technical support to leadership positions on engineering teams. Plus, you can complete the program in just 2.5 years, allowing you to make an impact in the field sooner.
