Raleigh
– Students, faculty and
staff joined the fight against
cancer at the American Cancer
Society’s Relay for Life, raising a
total of $1,350. Medical Club stu-
dents contributed to the effort by
accepting donations in exchange
for checking vital signs and blood
pressures.
South Carolina
Columbia
– Phi Theta Kap-
pa provided the volunteers
for the campus’ quarterly
Adopt-A-Highway cleanup.
Charleston
– Students,
faculty, and staff cleaned
up a two-mile stretch of
Northside Drive as part
of the Adopt-a-Highway
program.
Charleston
– The
Heroes of Health
Sciences Club
visited Crisis Min-
istries to feed the
homeless.
Charleston
– Faculty and
staff took part in the i5k run/
walk to benefit the Charles-
ton Digital Corridor Schol-
arship Fund, created to
nurture tomorrow’s innova-
tors through education and
entrepreneurship program-
ming. The “Geeks in Sneaks” team included Ntombie Dun-
more (Assistant Director of Nursing), Kristie Cumbee (Director
of Career Services), Jackqulin Green (CIS Faculty), Susan
Osterdock (Student Records), Leslie McKinney (Administrative
Assistant), Yvette Spees (Director of Nursing), Jen Bell (Librar-
ian), and Laurie Hart (PN Faculty).
Charleston
– ECPI University
faculty provided expertise
and assistance at James
Island Elementary School’s
Math and Science Night.
CIS faculty Jackqulin Green works with a
student.
Reaching Out: ECPI
Greenville
– Students held
a bake sale to help raise
money to cover medical ex-
penses for a fellow student’s
emergency heart surgery.
Greenville
– Medical Assistant students checked blood pres-
sure and tested blood sugar at the Hispanic Health Fair held
at Brushy Creek Baptist Church.
Three of the students were bi-
lingual and were able to translate
since a number of the attendees
did not speak English.

Greenville
– Library Assistants Lacey
Pike and Lisa Benton participated in
a community service project with the
Humane Society Animal Shelter, collect-
ing blankets and newspapers donated
by ECPI University students.
Virginia
Moorefield
– The Web Club hosted a
blood drive and collected 22 pints.
Nursing student Laura Hornbarger
Newport News
– A team of
adventurous souls ran the
Color Me Rad 5K race. In the
course of being pelted purple,
they helped raise money for
the Newport News Green
Foundation.
Dr. Vijay Bhuse, Dr. John Olson, Alyx
Riebeling, Thomas Sullivan, Michael Ander-
son, and Candice Sayre.
Newport News
– Massage therapy
students provided free chair mas-
sages during Nurse’s week at the
Sentara Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center in Hampton, Virginia. They
also traveled to Langley Air Force
Base and Norfolk Naval Weapon
Station to provide free massages to
service members.
