S
tudents at ECPI University’s Richmond/
Innsbrook campus are getting some
valuable real-world experience and earning
scholarship money as well. The Websmith
Group, a technology solutions and consult-
ing firm in Richmond, has partnered with
ECPI in what’s being called The Student
Innovation Project which involves selecting
students to be divided into two competing
software development teams. Each team is
responsible for developing a fun and inter-
active software product, based on criteria
determined by Websmith Group.
Scholarship funds are awarded to the
student(s) that demonstrate excellence
in the execution of their assigned proj-
ect. Products are judged
on usability, functionality,
and aesthetic design. The
winning team members are
awarded $250.00 in scholar-
ship money. Additionally, the
“Most Valuable Player” on
the winning team is awarded
an additional $250.00 from
Websmith Group. Con-
gratulations to the first group
of winners, Brian Schaaf,
Sean Stramaglia, and Elaina
Johnson. Yes, they earned
scholarship money, but
experience is priceless!
