Accreditation and Approvals

Accreditation - Institutional

ECPI University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) to award the associate's, baccalaureate, and master's degrees and diplomas. SACSCOC is a regional accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education.

Licensures

State Council of Higher Education in Virginia. ECPI University has authority issued from the State Council of Higher Education of Virginia to offer degrees, courses for degree credit, and programs of study leading to a degree.

North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges. ECPI University is licensed by the North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges to award diplomas. The North Carolina State Board of Community Colleges is not an accrediting agency.

South Carolina Commission on Higher Education. ECPI University is licensed by the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education to award Bachelor of Science, Associate of Applied Science degrees and diplomas (1333 Main Street, Suite 200, Columbia, SC 29201-3245, telephone 803.737.2260). Licensure indicates only that minimum standards have been met; it is not equivalent to or synonymous with accreditation by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

University of North Carolina Board of Governors. ECPI University is licensed by the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina to award degrees.

Virginia Board of Nursing: ECPI University has received approval for the Practical Nursing (PN) by the Department of Health Professions, Virginia Board of Nursing at the Newport News, Northern Virginia, Richmond/Emerywood, Richmond/Moorefield, and Virginia Beach, Virginia campuses.

ECPI University has received approval for a Registered Nursing (RN) program by the Department of Health Professions, Virginia Board of Nursing at the Newport News, Richmond/Emerywood, and Virginia Beach, Virginia campuses.

North Carolina Board of Nursing: ECPI University has received approval for a Practical Nursing education program by the North Carolina Board of Nursing at the Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, North Carolina campuses. ECPI University in Charlotte has been granted approval for an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

South Carolina Board of Nursing: ECPI University has received approval from the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, South Carolina Board of Nursing for a Practical Nursing (PN) program at the Greenville and North Charleston, South Carolina campuses.

Maryland Higher Education Commission: ECPI University is registered with the Maryland Higher Education Commission for the delivery of online programs to residents of Maryland.

Other Approvals

ECPI University is eligible to participate in federal Title IV financial aid programs administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

ECPI University is approved for the training of veterans and other eligible persons.

ECPI University in Virginia Beach is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Approved Technical Operations in the FAA’s Collegiate Training Initiative. This approval applies to the Electronics Engineering Technology associate’s and bachelor’s degree programs at the Virginia Beach, Virginia campus.

ECPI University is an eligible institution to train students under the sponsorship of the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.

ECPI University is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students at the following locations: ECPI University – Newport News, VA; Northern Virginia, VA; Raleigh, NC; and Virginia Beach, VA..

Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools

ECPI University has programmatic accreditation for Medical Assisting with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (7777 Leesburg Pike, Suite 314N, Falls Church, Virginia 22043, telephone 703.917.9503) at the following campuses: Newport News, Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Virginia Beach, Virginia; Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh, North Carolina; and Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville, South Carolina.

ECPI University has programmatic accreditation for Surgical Technology with the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (7777 Leesburg Pike, Suite 314N, Falls Church, Virginia 22043, telephone 703.917.9503) at the Northern Virginia and Richmond, Virginia campuses.

American Culinary Federation

The AAS in Culinary Arts and the Diploma in Culinary Arts offered at ECPI University's School of Culinary Arts in Norfolk, VA (Virginia Beach) are accredited by the American Culinary Federation Inc., 180 Center Place Way, St. Augustine, Florida 32095, (940) 824-4468, www.acfchefs.org.

Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education.

The Health Information Management program at the Newport News and Richmond campuses are in Candidacy Status, pending accreditation review by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIM).

Commission on Physical Therapy Education

ECPI University has programmatic accreditation for the Physical Therapist Assistant program by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE) of the American Physical Therapy Association (111 North Fairfax Street, Alexandria, Virginia 22314; telephone 703.706.3245, email: accreditation@apta.org, website: www.capteonline.org) at the Newport News and Richmond/ Emerywood, Virginia campuses.

Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology

The Medical Radiography program at the Newport News, Virginia campus is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT, 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, IL 60606-3182; telephone 312.704.5300, fax 312.704.5304, email: mail@jrcert.org). Graduates qualify to sit for the national exam of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
