ENG110 College Composition

The course is designed to help students improve their writing processes while developing critical thinking skills and to provide instruction in core writing skills required for academic and professional writing. Assignments will emphasize the understanding and application of writing as a process, from invention to planning, drafting, revising, and editing to final product. Students will review grammar and mechanics and apply knowledge of both as they compose academic essays in various modes. Rhetorical strategies, use of appropriate writing conventions, and the ability to write appropriately for various tasks and audiences will be highlighted. Professional essays will be offered as models, and students will evaluate and analyze the writing strategies used by professional authors. Additionally, students will engage in peer response as they read and evaluate others' written work and provide relevant feedback. (Writing Course)
