A manufacturer of polyethylene film, a process that requires electronic engineering technology to make, has announced plans to invest $85 million to build a new production facility in Richland County, South Carolina, just outside of the state’s capital in Columbia. According to an article published by the Columbia Regional Business Report, Charter NEX Films has released plans to build a 140,000-square-foot plant in the Carolina Pines Industrial Park on Farrow Road in Blythewood, with the hiring of new workers to begin in spring 2018.

“The 110 jobs that this investment will create for South Carolinians clearly show Charter NEX’s commitment to our state and our people,” said South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster in a news release. “We are grateful that this great company has decided to choose South Carolina for its new location, and we look forward to the future prosperity that we know will come from this partnership.”

The company’s products are used primarily for a variety of applications, including food, medical and protective purposes.
