While there are some overlaps, the main difference comes down to focus. In IT, you work mostly with software in the digital world. In ET, you work mostly with hardware in the physical world.
Both paths build the hands-on technical skills that modern technology requires, just in different ways.
Start with your interests. If you enjoy working with programs and solving problems on a screen, IT is likely the better fit. If you prefer working with your hands on machines or physical equipment, ET is probably the stronger match.
If you aren’t sure, an admissions advisor can help you explore your options and find the path that fits your goals.
No, you don’t need a technical background to begin. Programs are designed to equip you with a strong foundation and relevant skills.
Classes are led by instructors who have real experience in their industries, and support services and tutoring are available when you need them.
At ECPI University, you follow an accelerated, year-round format, taking two classes every five weeks. This steady pace lets you earn your bachelor’s in as little as 2.5 years.
You still complete as many credit hours as a traditional schedule, just without the long breaks to slow your momentum.
