Course Description: This is the first of three courses that will facilitate the development of clinical reasoning and critical thinking skills through the analysis of varied patient cases in a small group format. This course will introduce students to the foundational policies and professional expectations of the PA Program, preparing them to meet academic requirements and uphold professional standards. Students will learn the historical development of the PA profession, including its origins, milestones, and evolving role in U.S. healthcare. Core concepts of critical thinking and clinical reasoning will be introduced, with emphasis on early-stage case analysis. Through case‑based, small‑group learning, students will apply analytical thinking, contextual reasoning, problem‑solving strategies, and professional judgment to clinical scenarios. Upon successful course completion, students will demonstrate the ability to apply clinical reasoning and critical thinking to deliver patient-centered care.
