ECPI University Rams' First Full Competition Week is in the Books

The ECPI University Rams finished its first full week of the 2019/20 esports season with two Rocket League matches and a well-fought Hearthstone match.

In the first Rocket League match, the Rams kicked off its NACE Rocket League Championship season with a 2-3 loss in a back-and-forth affair to Davenport University Monday, September 23. Christian "Uxority" Loran scored the goal of the night, a double tap to make it 4-3 in Game 1. Uxority managed a hat trick to lead the Rams to a 6-4 victory that game.

The Rams played a very high-pressure offense, registering at least five shots in each match, in addition to several demolitions in each of the final four games of the series. Unfortunately, the Rams could not capitalize on some of Davenport's mistakes in the last two games and fell to the Panthers.

There was a Rocket League match schedule for Thursday, September 26, but Campbellsville University forfeited. The Rams' record currently stands at 1-1 in the NACE Rocket League Championship season.

ECPI University then faced off against Rochester Institute of Technology on Tuesday, September 24, in its second Hearthstone match of the season. After a hard-fought battle, the Rams lost to the Tigers 3-0.

The first game Nathan "Glamdring" Seib was up against it from the beginning as his opponent drew a solid starting hand and did not let up pressure, delivering the lethal blow by Turn 6. D'metre "SenorPoppy" Pina played in Game 2 and had a solid strategy and defense going with his Control Warrior Deck. However, his opponent drew Zephrys the Great, allowing Rochester to play Avenging Wrath and ending Game 2.

Weldon "PriestW20" Hobbs ran a Quest Shaman deck for the Rams in Game 3 against Rochester's Holy Wrath Paladin deck. With a Holy Wrath deck, players have a limited amount of time before that deck becomes unbeatable. Unfortunately, PriestW20 could not find the right combination of cards before Rochester combo-ed Shirvallah, the Tiger and Holy Wrath to deal 50 damage in two turns, winning the series for Rochester.

With the loss, the ECPI University Rams sit 1-1 in the Tespa Hearthstone Collegiate Championship of Fall 2019.

The ECPI University Rams' next Rocket League matches take place Monday, September 30, and Thursday, October 3, both at 8 PM EST. The next Rams Hearthstone match is on Tuesday, October 1 at 8 PM EST.
