When ECPI University was founded 50 years ago, there were very few women working in technology. In fact, there were far fewer women in the workplace itself. Much has changed since then, yet women still are not fully represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) professions.

In 1966, ECPI University was considered a fairly progressive institution, educating students in the small, but emerging industry of computer programming. Today, it remains progressive, both in the way it approaches education and in its desire to attract more women into STEM professions.

As ECPI University celebrates its 50th anniversary, it also seeks to honor the women who are today taking leading roles in the technology field. Compiled by Yahoo, here are the 50 most powerful women in STEM careers today:
