Global Technology Giant Infosys to Hire 2,000

India-based Infosys has grown to more than 200,000 employees worldwide. Now, it’s expanding again, bringing 2,000 new jobs to Wake County, North Carolina. In a news report just published in the News & Observer, it was announced that the new facility will be one of four planned innovation and technology hubs that will be built in the United States.

The Wake County hub will focus on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, big data and cloud applications. At the announcement, Infosys President Ravi Kumar said the company plans to fill the first 500 positions by the end of 2018. The company will also be looking for software developers, analysts, and digital architects. The new jobs will pay more than $72,000 a year on average, nearly $20,000 more than Wake County’s average wage.

Kumar says the area’s talented technology workforce, diverse economy, and top-tier colleges and universities played a key role in the company’s decision to choose North Carolina over other competing states. One of those schools is ECPI University, with a campus located in the adjacent city of Raleigh.
