Course Description: This course introduces the student to setting priorities, communicating, planning and providing care for medical-surgical patients with multiple physiological and psychosocial needs in diverse health care settings. Students will learn health promotion, maintenance, and restoration. Opportunities to identify best practices from selected sources of current nursing evidence are provided. Students communicate with the interdisciplinary team to initiate plan of care and participate in quality improvement processes. Learning opportunities for this course include classroom and supervised clinical experiences.
