Course Description: This course provides the theoretical foundation for the study of mental health nursing. The client is viewed as the individual, the family and the community within a social framework, with the goal of optimizing his or her functioning. Historical, socioeconomic, environmental, political, and cultural indicators of the health of a community are explored. The application of the nursing process is applied to diverse client scenarios with the emphasis on the provision of holistic care to the clients and their family.
