Course Description: This course will address the history and practices of the American corrections system. Students will learn the historical background of the American corrections system, the policies and laws that guide this system as well as processes and reforms implemented to address issues within the system. The course specifically identifies and discusses current problems faced by modern institutional corrections and the methodologies utilized to solve these problems.
