CYB430L Advanced Defense and Countermeasures with AI Lab

Course Description: This lab-based course provides hands-on experience with intrusion detection systems (IDS), firewall configuration, and security monitoring. Students practice implementing and testing countermeasures designed to prevent, detect, and respond to network-based threats. Artificial intelligence (AI)–enhanced monitoring tools are used to strengthen detection accuracy, automate analysis, and support real-time defense strategies. Through guided exercises, learners gain practical skills in configuring firewalls, analyzing alerts, tuning intrusion detection systems, and applying layered defenses to protect organizational assets. By combining technical practice with AI-augmented approaches, this course prepares students to operate effectively in security operations environments where rapid threat identification and response are critical.
