Course Description: This course introduces students to the skills and tools required to plan, design, manage, and improve manufacturing systems. Topics covered include factory layout, simulation, value stream mapping, theory of constraints, lean manufacturing, standard work, visual management, single-piece flow vs. batch processing, time studies, real-world manufacturing case studies, inventory management, and manufacturing leadership. Students will be able to lay out and optimize a production line, identify bottleneck processes, and determine lead times using analytical methods and simulation software.
