Course Description: This course will provide a survey of employment rules and regulations, including employment discrimination (such as protected class, disparate impact, disparate treatment, retaliation); military leave; drug-free workplace legal issues; workplace violence; the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA); the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA); negligent referral; negligent hiring; negligent retention; employee references; and workplace harassment. Students will develop an understanding of Human Resource Management (HRM) that involves compliance and regulatory issues and trends.
