Course Description: This course offers a comprehensive exploration of laboratory medicine, emphasizing the integration of physiological and pathophysiological principles in diagnostic testing. Students will develop critical thinking skills, including concepts such as sensitivity and specificity, to optimize patient care. Topics include medical microbiology, hematology, chemistry, immunology, serology, urine studies, and laboratory interpretation in relation to diagnostic reasoning. Through clinical case discussions and interactive eHospital modules, students will learn to interpret laboratory results within the context of patient assessment and diagnosis, recognizing abnormal findings and their clinical significance. Upon successful completion, students will be equipped to select and utilize appropriate diagnostic tests to support accurate and effective clinical decision-making.
