Course Description: This course will address the common emergent and surgical conditions encountered in clinical practice. Students will identify techniques for evaluating and managing patients with surgical and emergent conditions. Students will explore selecting appropriate evaluation, diagnosis, and management plans in the pre-hospital and hospital emergency room setting, pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative management of patients, the pre-surgical clearance exam, and critical care/trauma medicine. Upon successful course completion, students will be able to apply the knowledge gained in this course to recognize and manage emergent and surgical conditions.
