Course Description: This course will consist of a 4-week supervised clinical practice experience (SCPE) in the emergency medicine setting to practice the principles of emergency medicine in a clinical working environment under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor. Students will refine the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and lab setting and utilize them in a clinical setting. Students will practice performing triage, the history, and physical exam, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, performing common procedural skills, and developing treatment plans for the diversity of patients and conditions encountered in clinical practice. Upon successful course completion, students will demonstrate knowledge of how a PA functions in the emergency medicine setting and entry-level knowledge of diseases and well-states encountered in emergency medicine.
