Course Description: This course provides the theoretical foundation for the study of public health nursing. The client is viewed as the individual, the family and the community within a social framework, with the goal of optimizing his or her functioning. Historical, socioeconomic, environmental, political, and cultural indicators of the health of a community are explored. The application of the nursing process is applied to diverse client scenarios with the emphasis on growth and development, health promotion and the provision of holistic care to the client and their family.
