CJ135 Corrections

This course will address the history and practices of the American corrections system. Students will learn the historical background of the American corrections system, the policies and laws that guide this system as well as processes and reforms implemented to address issues within the system. The course specifically enables students to identify and discuss challenges within the field of corrections and the styles of punishment. Upon successful course completion, students will be able to apply the policies, processes, functions and historical context of the American correctional system to the corrections working environment.
