North Charleston, SC –Licensed Practical Nursing students at ECPI University in Charleston recently held a Cardiac Health Fair for the campus community. Led by nursing instructor Tawana Lynn Smith, MSN, RN, the students provided educational guidance on such subjects as heart attack prevention, heart-healthy lifestyle choices, and demonstrated fun ways to add aerobic activity into one’s life.
“Our project was intended to reinforce the idea that nursing is more than a paycheck and encourage future involvement in giving back to the community at large,” said Smith. “The students of the practical nursing program planned and executed the entire health fair on their own, from formulating a written and verbal proposal to request permission and space to skillful planning and incorporating the various ideas and strategies that made it a success.”
The Cardiac Health Fair attracted students from all disciplines, as well as faculty and staff, and educated them on life-enhancing decisions that they can make each day. For more information, please contact Jennifer Gager at 330.414.0350 or [email protected].
