  • Tristone Flowtech USA Inc. – A manufacturer of battery and engine cooling, as well as air charge and intake products, it plans to invest $23.6 million to open its first U.S. auto parts manufacturing plant, creating 302 new jobs. Annual payroll will be more than $10.4 million.
  • Sunrise Global Marketing – The manufacturer of Greenworks yard equipment and tools plans to spend $23.2 million and hire 187 people to work at a new facility in Burke County.
  • Dhollandia – A manufacturer of hydraulic tailgates, it will invest approximately $30 million on a new operation in Gaston County with 150 new jobs added to the local economy. Annual payroll: more than $6 million.

“We are very excited about this project and our intention is to make it the most modern factory in our group with high-level technology and a training center for both internal training and training for end users,” says Dhollandia CEO Lothar Burger.

Technology plays a central role in today’s advanced manufacturing industry. In fact, it’s the reason why America is once again globally competitive and able to attract employers like these. While these modern facilities require fewer human beings, the people who do work in them must be highly skilled in such areas as robotics and automated systems. They need to know how to program, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of computer, electronic, and mechanical systems.

If this sounds like the kind of career you’ve been looking for, take a moment and explore the Mechatronics program at ECPI University and its Charlotte campus. This program focuses on the three key disciplines that align with advanced manufacturing – electronics, mechanical engineering technology, and computer and information science. The hands-on curriculum focuses on such areas as:

  • Programmable Controllers
  • Testing and measuring instruments.
  • Computer Hardware and Software
  • Computer Programming and Networks
  • Digital Electronics and Communications
  • Automation and Control Systems
  • Microcontrollers
  • Applied Mechanics
  • Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • Materials Science

If you would prefer to specialize, you might consider the Electronics Engineering Technology program. Either way, each of these options are offered in a year-round, accelerated learning environment. That mean you can earn your bachelor degree in as little as 2.5 years.
