Two Reports Find Growth is Strong and Likely to Continue

Hiring managers at South Carolina IT firms are working as hard as they can to find more tech workers. That’s because their sector is booming. And according to an article published this month in The Post and Courier, this is not expected to change. It cited an annual survey by the Computer Industry Association (CTA) which found that South Carolina’s tech sector now employs more than 62,000 people, a 3.3 percent jump which ranks South Carolina 11th in the nation for growth.

Moreover, a recently-released report by Cyberstates indicates that more than 200 new tech firms opened last year in South Carolina, a 3.9 percent improvement which is more than double the national average. Leading tech jobs include:

  • Software and Web Developers
  • Network Architects, Administrators and Support
  • Systems and Cybersecurity Analysts
  • Computer Support Specialists
  • Database Administrators

Within the tech industry, the top sectors include:

  • Engineering, R&D, and Testing Services
  • IT Services and Custom Software Services
  • Telecommunications and Internet Services
  • Tech Manufacturing
