Course Description: This course introduces students to the principles, theories and concepts of caring for the childbearing individual and family in a multicultural society. Students use clinical decision making to explore best practices that can enhance the patient’s plan of care. Available sources of informatics will be utilized in the care setting to organize and manage patient care. Students learn to apply teaching and learning concepts to the identified needs of the childbearing family with inclusion of cultural considerations. Learning opportunities for this course include classroom and supervised clinical experiences.
