New MSET prepares students for advanced roles in automation, engineering systems, and modern manufacturing
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — [February 25, 2026] — ECPI University announced the launch of its new Master of Science in Engineering Technology (MSET), designed to prepare students for advanced roles in engineering, automation, and today’s evolving manufacturing environments. With ECPI University’s year-round accelerated schedule, students can complete the program in as little as 13 months.
As engineering organizations modernize operations and expand automation efforts, many technical roles increasingly require professionals who can connect mechanical systems, controls, data, and automation into end-to-end solutions. The MSET emphasizes applied, project-based coursework that mirrors real engineering challenges and introduces technologies shaping today’s industries.
Graduates will be prepared to design, integrate, test, and optimize complex engineering systems that support reliability, efficiency, and performance across a range of technical environments.

The program is designed for engineers and technical professionals who want to build advanced skills in automation, advanced manufacturing, robotics, or mechanical systems.
Students may choose from two concentrations:
- Mechanical Engineering — focused on improving mechanical systems and optimizing manufacturing processes
- Robotics and Autonomous Systems — focused on developing robotic solutions that support automation and intelligent operation
The Master of Science in Engineering Technology is available at ECPI University campuses in Virginia Beach and Newport News, Virginia, as well as online.
