Cyber Security Programs in Virginia; Governor Calls for Expansion!

ECPI University’s National Ranking Demonstrates Commitment to Assist

Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe is issuing a call to arms, so to speak, on cyber terrorism. At a three-day conference held at Jefferson Lab in Newport News this month, he announced his goal to make Virginia the cyber-capital of America. From a news report in the Daily Press, another speaker at the conference, Ron Ross of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, illustrated the threats aimed not only at Virginia, but the nation at large. Ross says cybercriminals enjoy a target-rich environment. Today, about 6 billion devices from smartphones to tablets to cars to children's toys are among the so-called internet of things. Moreover, every day, several million more are added.

Governor McAuliffe says high schools must first prepare students and introduce them to the opportunities available, then colleges must take the baton and prepare them for the workforce. As this begins to occur, ECPI University is uniquely qualified to meet this calling. This year, Community College Week ranked ECPI University #5 in the nation for graduates in Computer and Information Sciences & Support Services.

Because there is no time to waste, ECPI University’s accelerated format also allows students to complete their programs much faster.
