Course Description: This course will consist of a 4-week rotation in women's health to practice the principles of women's health in a clinical working environment under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor. Students will refine the knowledge and skills acquired in the classroom and lab setting and utilize them in a clinical setting. Students will practice performing the history and physical exam, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans for the diversity of patients and conditions encountered in clinical practice. Upon successful course completion, students will demonstrate knowledge of how a PA functions in the women's health setting and entry-level knowledge of diseases and well-states encountered in women's health.

Students will practice performing triage, working on a surgical team, the history and physical exam, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans for the diversity of patients and conditions encountered in clinical practice. Upon successful course completion, students will demonstrate knowledge of how a PA functions in the surgical medicine setting and entry-level knowledge of diseases and well-states encountered in surgical medicine.

Course Description: This course will provide an overview of research/evidence-based medicine for clinicians. Students will learn about the interpretation of basic biostatistical methods, the use of common databases to access medical literature, and how to interpret medical literature and research studies to promote evidence-based decisions in medicine. Upon successful course completion, students will create scholarly work in the form of a master's thesis paper and summary poster of quality to present at an academic or medical conference.

Course Description: This course provides a three-week supervised clinical practice experience (SCPE) in a selected field of medicine as the culmination of the clinical curriculum, aimed at refining and reinforcing the principles of medicine under the direct supervision of a clinical preceptor. If necessary, this SCPE may also be used to ensure completion of the clinical curriculum course learning outcomes. Students will build upon the knowledge and skills acquired in classroom and laboratory settings and apply them in a clinical environment. They will practice conducting comprehensive histories and physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing treatment plans for a diverse range of patients and conditions. Upon successful completion, students will demonstrate an understanding of the physician assistant’s role in medicine and entry-level to the PA profession proficiency in diseases, conditions, and wellness states encountered in clinical practice.
