College of Nursing and College of Health Science

Established in 1999, the College of Nursing and College of Health Science brings the campus’s healthcare programs together under one roof. This dedicated space gives students room for hands-on healthcare instruction, from simulation labs to skills labs designed to reflect real clinical settings.

Its location also places students close to the hospitals and health systems that serve the Hampton Roads region.

Culinary Institute of Virginia

Founded in 2006, the Culinary Institute of Virginia has spent nearly two decades preparing students who are passionate about cooking and hospitality to pursue careers in restaurants, hotels, bakeries, resorts, and their own businesses.

Community is a big part of CIV. Through partnerships with local nonprofits and service organizations, students put their skills to work serving others while building the professionalism the hospitality industry expects.

Hands-on Degree Programs 

Technology is a major focus at the Virginia Beach campus. Our Cybersecurity, Electronic Systems Engineering Technology (ESET), and Software Development programs build skills in areas like network security, automation, and application development, connecting students to the region's growing technology and defense sectors. 

In healthcare, our PN, ADN, and BSN programs offer licensure pathways for students looking to enter nursing roles across hospitals, clinics, and other care settings. Beyond nursing, our MA, Dental Assistant, and PA programs prepare students for other hands-on roles across the healthcare field. 

At the Culinary Institute of Virginia, our Culinary Arts and Food Service Management programs prepare students for the kitchen and the business behind it, from cooking fundamentals to running a foodservice operation. 

Across these programs, students have access to a range of hands-on spaces, including: 

• Electronics and Mechatronics Lab – Equipped with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, and diagnostic tools for testing and troubleshooting automated systems. 
• Cyber Center for Innovation – A dedicated space with current hardware and software for instruction in networking, cybersecurity, and systems administration. 
• Nursing Skills and Simulation Lab – Patient simulators and clinical stations that reflect real healthcare settings and build clinical decision-making and technical skills. 
• Anatomage Table – A three-dimensional anatomy visualization system that supports the study of human anatomy across healthcare programs. 
• Mobile Simulation Lab – An RV-based unit that brings hospital-style simulation, including adult and infant patient manikins, to locations across Hampton Roads. 
• Professional Culinary Kitchens – Commercial-grade kitchens set up to mirror the pace and workflow of a working foodservice operation. 
• Baking and Pastry Labs – Dedicated spaces equipped for bread, pastry, and dessert production. 
• Chef's Garden Greenhouse – A growing space for exploring seasonal ingredients and sustainable practices. 

Campus Life 

Beyond coursework, the Virginia Beach campus offers organizations, spaces, and resources that help students connect with one another and stay supported throughout their program. 

• Support for Student Veterans – The Student Veterans of America (SVA) and Military Support Center foster a strong sense of community and provide resources for military-affiliated students, helping them transition to academic and professional life. 
• Maker Space – A free-to-use resource center equipped with the tools and machinery that engineering technology students use, where students can complete assignments or work on their passion projects. 
• Ethical Hacking Club – A student-run club where students from technology and non-technology programs alike apply concepts from CIS courses and prepare for cybersecurity competitions and hackathons. 
• Library and Study Spaces – Students have access to the campus library that provides research resources, computers, and quiet study spaces to support progress inside and outside the classroom. 
• Honors Societies – The Golden Key International Honour Society and Phi Theta Kappa (Beta Psi Xi chapter) recognize academic achievement and offer access to networking and leadership opportunities. 
• eSports Team – Students can try out for the Rams, ECPI University's collegiate gaming team, to represent the university and compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
