NUR118 Foundations of Nursing IV

The focus of the course includes health promotion, health maintenance, and health restoration. Learners continue to build on previously acquired knowledge and skills. Opportunities will be provided for experience in caring for clients with burns and wounds, hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic disorders and clients with physiological adaptation needs. Students will continue to practice applying critical thinking to the clinical problem-solving process. The student will be given practice in identifying best practices from provided sources of current nursing evidence. In addition, the student will start identifying how the interdisciplinary team functions for individual clients with serious healthcare deviations and how the practical nurse communicates information that may be utilized by the interdisciplinary team. Students will be guided in practice using information technology to organize client information and care. Application of the nursing process continues as well as theory and practice in documentation. Nutritional needs for these clients are addressed.
