ECPI University offers two degree tracks in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration / Accounting Concentration. The Accounting Data Analytics Track provides students with an opportunity to engage with auditing and analytics knowledge that adds to their accounting concentration. Organizations are looking for data-driven perspectives and decisions.

Additionally, the General Accounting Track teaches the additional topics of auditing and personal taxation, providing students with a broad overview of accounting. The focus on auditing prepares students to track and verify accounting transactions and their source when reviewing financial reports to meet organizational goals.

In ECPI’s Online Bachelor of Science Business Administration (BSBA) program, students develop decision-making, problem-solving, and leadership skills based on a foundation of practical knowledge and application of business fundamentals. Students investigate business theory as it relates to accounting, management, analytics, and operations.

The online program creates a unique opportunity for the student to explore the diverse aspects of business as they relate to today’s global environment. The focus on real-world application, case studies, hands-on activities, and relevant scenarios are woven into the framework of the program to develop and enhance analytical, professional, and organizational skills. The curriculum integrates the functional areas of the business environment, such as finance, accounting, marketing, and management.

At ECPI, the online BSBA program addresses industry needs while incorporating current events, topics, business theories, and technological concepts. Students work collaboratively while applying concepts to complete projects based on real-world scenarios. This program provides an exceptional opportunity to obtain and practice the professional skills and industry knowledge necessary to be successful in any contemporary business environment.

Accounting Concentration Description

Our curriculum is grounded in fundamentals of accountancy, with classes focusing on both theory and application. Coursework covers a variety of core subjects including:

  • Standard practices of the accounting profession
  • The role of technology in the accounting profession
  • Preparation of Financial statements: GAAP and IFRS accounting methodologies
  • Integration of accounting systems and financial reporting
  • Preparation of personal, corporate, and not-for-profit tax returns
  • Governmental accounting
  • Fraud detections and deterrence and accounting computer forensics
  • Detailed implementation of ethical standards as required by accounting and business management professionals
  • Application of accounting and management theory and practice in decision making, business strategy, and technical solutions relating to management
  • Critical thinking and financial analysis of business factors including accounting, operations management, technology, and globalization
  • An understanding of global and technological accounting and business processes and management leadership

However, for knowledge to be truly useful, it must be applied. That’s why ECPI University requires students to complete two externships during their course of study, which allows them to gain real-world experience. 

Additionally, we offer two online degree tracks in the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration / Accounting Concentration. The Accounting Data Analytics Track and General Accounting Track, each track presents the students with an opportunity to engage with auditing and data-driven analytics knowledge that adds to their accounting concentration and additional topics of auditing and personal taxation, respectively.

Accounting Concentration

In today's marketplace, business, industry, government, and not-for-profit organizations need high-quality and near to real time financial information to compete in local, national, and global markets.

The accountant is a key person who can provide management with this critical information. No organization can function effectively without accounting. Our Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting provides students with an in-depth understanding of accounting principles. Accounting graduates are prepared to pursue careers in public accounting, business, or government.

  • Apply accounting principles to record financial information for a firm's financial position.

Accounting Data Analytics Track

The accounting data analytics track provides students with an opportunity to engage with auditing and analytics knowledge that adds to their accounting concentration. Organizations want data-driven perspectives and decisions. The additional analytics focus allows students to look at data output while combining financial and accounting insights. 

*students interested in sitting for the CPA exam, depending on state of residence, will need thirty upper division accounting credits.  

General Accounting Track

The general accounting track covers the additional topics of auditing and personal taxation, providing students with a broad overview of accounting. By taking the additional core areas, students are expected to become well rounded accounting graduates. The focus on auditing prepares students to track and verify accounting transactions and their source when reviewing financial reports to meet organizational goals.
