New Certification Program Highlights ECPI University Students Who Seek and Earn Professional Certifications
ECPI University is excited to introduce a new promotional campaign to celebrate students who make the extra effort and earn professional certifications. More on that in a minute. First, let’s explore why certifications are so valuable.
Ask any college career service advisor and they will tell you that professional certifications can make a big difference in getting noticed. Better yet, ask Michael Pfaff, Director of Information Technology at NDSE:
“Having certifications allows you to provide upfront proof that you have the dedication, education, and interest in expanding your technical skills,” says Pfaff. “To put it into perspective, if you are an employer and have two prospective candidates for a position, one of which is not certified and the other is MSCE, CCNA and/or Security + certified, who would you bring on board?”
ECPI University already provides an array of incentives and support services to encourage students to earn professional certifications. Exams for professional certifications typically cost several hundred dollars which is why ECPI University provides each student with vouchers, allowing them to take up to five exams for just $15 each. Upon graduation, you receive five more vouchers for just five dollars more.
This voucher program is one reason why General Dynamics IT has identified ECPI University as one of the schools it has targeted for its latest recruitment initiative.
"ECPI graduates have a specific set of skills that align very well with the jobs we are trying to fill,” says Michele Randall, a talent network specialist with General Dynamics IT. “There’s nothing wrong with theory but we need people who can do the job on day one with little or no training.”
So, it quite clear that earning professional certifications is good idea. And as a technical college, ECPI University is doing a lot to help you earn them.
