 SC’s Largest Professional Job Fair Draws More Than 100 Employers

Columbia, SC – ECPI University and the SC Technical College System have signed a memorandum of understanding designed to increase access and enhance the seamless transfer of students and graduates from the 16 technical colleges in South Carolina to ECPI University. 

The SC Technical College System and ECPI University will closely examine and improve transfer functions to expand and encourage access for students who complete an associate in arts, science or applied science degree at one of the state's 16 technical colleges to an approved baccalaureate program offered at ECPI University. 

Honor Recognizes Schools Focused on Unique Needs of Online Students

Virginia Beach, VA – U.S. News & World Report has just released its much-anticipated annual rankings of America’s colleges and universities, with ECPI University being ranked among the nation’s best for online learning. Data analysts for the publication ranked schools based on performance within four categories: 

• Student Engagement – Quality programs promote participation among online students and create ways for them to interact with faculty and fellow classmates, keeping them engaged and on track for graduation. 
• Student Services and Technology – Faculty employ advanced teaching technologies and simulation software to replicate the in-seat experience online. School provides students with highly-accessible financial, academic, and career service advisors. 
• Faculty Credentials and Training – Faculty members are both highly credentialed and trained to accommodate the needs of distance learners. 
• Peer Reputation – Feedback from high-ranking academic officials and employers provide insights not always captured by empirical data. 

Charleston, SC – Dr. Sonja Ogletree Satani, a member of the business management faculty at ECPI University’s Charleston campus, has been elected national president of the American Business Woman’s Association (ABWA). Dr. Ogletree’s duties will include governing the affairs, policies and business of the Association, as well as serving as a Trustee to the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund, considered one the country’s most highly respected grant and scholarship programs for women. Since it was established, it has awarded more than $17 million in scholarships to more than 17,000 women. 

“I am honored and excited to be elected to lead this association of empowering professionals,” says Dr. Ogletree. “ABWA offers a valued service that helps women garner skills needed to advance in the workplace. ABWA takes a leading role to ensure that women have access to a college education and other professional development opportunities that can support them in achieving parity in the workplace.” 

Honor Marks 7 Straight Years on Military Times List

Virginia Beach, VA – ECPI University is pleased to announce it has been ranked #2 in the nation by Military Times in its Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 rankings, formerly known as Best for Vets. The rankings factor in the results of Military Times’ annual survey, the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement. 

As with all Military Times rankings, Best Colleges 2018 is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that help make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families. More than 600 colleges took part in this year’s detailed survey, with ECPI University ranking #2 in the nation among career and technical colleges, a category that includes community colleges and four-year career-focused colleges and universities. 

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our commitment to skill-based education,” says ECPI University Executive Director of Military Education Bob Larned. “In today’s highly-technical job market, employers in such areas as computer and information science, engineering, and healthcare need people who can do the job with little or no training. Hundreds of Students Expected to Visit Lab Showcasing Advanced Manufacturing Technology

Virginia Beach, VA – Ray Ray is a 4-year-old Beagle who got his foot caught in a trap. By the time he was rescued, it was too late. Veterinarians were forced to amputate part of his leg. Fortunately for Ray Ray, his new owners have a friend at ECPI University who put them in touch with Vedat Aksoy, director of CAD and graphics at the Virginia Beach campus. 

Mr. Aksoy saw this as an excellent opportunity to provide a real-world learning experience for his Capstone class and help an animal in need, all at the same time. He challenged his students to design and build Ray Ray a new prosthetic limb, by using their newly-learned skills in CAD software, design, and 3D printing.
