Certifications for People with Masters in Information Systems

Information Systems Analyst

Also known as the ISP, this certification is administered through ICCP (Institute for Certification of Computing Professionals). This certification is tailored for graduates within a CIS program. However, it is also a core exam for those who wish to be certified in other areas of specialty. The certification exam covers strategic organizational systems development, organizational and professional skills, and information technology.

CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor)

For you to take this exam you need to have a minimum of five years working experience. The required experience can be substituted with a degree and work experience. After taking and passing your CISA exam, you are required to also observe the code of professional ethics and participate in continuing education.

Certified SCRUM Master (CSM)

For you to take this exam you need to familiarize yourself with the Scrum framework and attend an in-person two day (16 hour) CSM course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer.

Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

Also known as the CBAP, this certification is administered from the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). Applicants must possess at least five years working experience.  After taking and passing the CBAP, you are required to also observer the code of professional ethics and participate in continuing education.

Project Management Professional (PMP)

For you to take this exam, you need a four year degree with 7500 hours leading and directing projects and 35 hours of project management education. After taking and passing the PMP, you must earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) every three years
