Stephen Arthur, Director of AI and Analytics at ECPI University, recently appeared on an episode of the Good Enough Isn’t podcast. Hosted by Patrick Patterson and Myles Biggs of Level Agency, the podcast features honest, practical discussions about AI, business, and innovation.
Arthur describes how his early experiences at ECPI prepared him to look at AI not as a threat to academic integrity, but as a tool that can benefit students, staff, and faculty alike. He notes that these insights helped him recognize where AI could streamline everyday tasks and open the door to new forms of academic support.
ECPI is incorporating these new tools to strengthen its operations. The university is building systems that clarify financial aid questions, troubleshoot IT issues, and manage day-to-day tasks. These efforts help reduce friction so students can stay focused on their coursework and free up staff to concentrate on providing more direct support.
Still, Arthur notes that while AI can enhance the student experience, it cannot replace the core strengths of higher education. Students still need structure, community, and credentials that reflect real preparation for the workforce.
To that end, ECPI has expanded its curriculum to include AI-related instruction in more than 35 courses. Each updated course introduces students to the ways AI influences that field and teaches them how to work with modern tools. This expansion is designed to help students graduate with practical knowledge that aligns with industry needs.
